Once again XTERRA Austria around the the Klopeiner See becomes the event where new adventures begin! Since the beginning in 2007 XTERRA Austria is progressing and expanding constantly, always setting high goals: be innovative, special and trendy! The lastest evidence for this attitude: the XTERRA European Championships 2009 will take place in Austria fort he first time!
We are convinced that this extraordinary race will set new benchmarks not only in Austria but all over Europe! The XTERRA European Championships – the last race of the XTERRA European Tour – will certainly be an awesome and attractive race weekend which will unite the international XTERRA community, pros as well as passionate amateurs. As all oft hem share the same attitude and life style the small town in Austria, St. Kanzian, will become the center of XTERRA universe. For sure plenty of top athletes won’t miss this event. So race day will be fun day!
Apart from the expected maximum performances the XTERRA Center as well as the whole region surrounding the blue lake will appear in a „XTERRA European Championships“ –style. Anybody, spectators, athletes and supporters, will have a great time and enjoy a typical XTERRA Austria kind of weekend! |

 Klosterneuburg, im September 2009: Am 5. September fand die Premiere des XTERRA Vienna / Klosterneuburg statt. Über 200 Athletinnen und Athleten aller Alters- und Könnensstufen nahmen die anspruchsvolle und abwechslungsreiche Strecke in Angriff. Viele weitere angemeldete Teilnehmer/innen haben leider dem Wetterbericht misstraut.

 250 Einzelstarter aus 25 Nationen waren bei der XTERRA Europameisterschaft (1,5 km Schwimmen / 30 km Mountainbiken / 10 km Crosslauf) in St. Kanzian / Klopeiner See am Start.
Schon beim Schwimmen war die tolle Form des Franzosen nicht zu übersehen. Er kam mit dem Spitzenfeld aus dem Wasser und baute dann beim Biken und beim Laufen seine Überlegenheit aus. Platz zwei ging an den Tschechen Karel Zadak, 2:29.17, 3. Sam Gardner (GB). 2:19.41.
Bester Österreicher wurde als 15. Michael Szymoniuk (Wien) 2:45.36, 17. Gerald Will (Wien) 2:46.33 , 24. Thomas Jandl (Kärnten) 2:48.33. Österreichs Hoffnung Michi Weiss, hatte schon Probleme beim Schwimmen und musste auf der MTB Strecke nach einem Defekt am Rad, w.o. geben. |
